Ottawa driver charged after tire marks damage Pride crosswalk

A 36-year-old North Grenville woman faces mischief charges after the driver of a pickup truck laid rubber on a newly-painted Pride crosswalk in Kemptville.

Ontario Provincial Police said they received a report at about 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday. A witness said the female driver of a pickup truck was intentionally spinning the truck’s tires as it drove over the crosswalk at the intersection of Reuben Crescent and Prescott Street.

Following a police investigation, the woman was charged with mischief under $5,000. She was scheduled to appear in court in Brockville on July 9.

The municipality of North Grenville and Kemptville Pride unveiled the rainbow crosswalk, Kemptville’s first, on Monday.
