Nova Scotia Progressive Conservatives to release election platform today

HALIFAX —
Nova Scotia’s Progressive Conservatives will release their official party platform today ahead of the Aug. 17 election.

The Tories have said their platform will be fully costed and will focus on the party’s promise to reform health care.

Party spokesperson Catherine Klimek says the platform will include a plan to help increase physician recruitment and retention.

The platform is also expected to build on Party Leader Tim Houston’s promise on Wednesday to improve Nova Scotia’s long-term care sector.

The Tories released an outline for senior care last summer, promising at least 2,500 single-person rooms at long-term care facilities and thousands of new staff.

Klimek says the plan largely remains the same but some slight adjustments have been made.
